Atonement Wardrobe
We are on a major movie kick right now. Must be the cold weather! Anyways just saw Atonement with Keira Knightly. Not the most uplifting film in the world but boy... the 1930's period pieces she wore.... to die for! Again, another great film for the clothes alone.
Urban Outfitters
Not normally an Urban Outfitters fan, I decided to walk into their store yesterday afternoon out of sheer boredom. Not sure if it's me or the product right now but man.... did I spend some serious cash yesterday!!! I am loving what they are doing for Spring. Dresses, tops, I even found a pair of great Vintage boots. If you shop online you also find a lot of clothes that they don't carry in the store. I suggest you check it out!!!!

The return of Halston
There will be alot of exciting shows next week at New York's Fashion Week, but I think most are awaiting the long return of the Halston House. Halston was huge in the Seventies and this time around big wigs Harvey Weinstein, Tamara Mellon (from our beloved Jimmy Choo) and Rachel Zoe are looking to revive the label. Personally I can't wait for the Project Runway show to take place, this is always the most popular show during Fashion Week. Fun, fun, fun!!
Fall 2008 Fashion Week
I can't believe the Fall fashion shows will begin next week. If you are the kind of person who keeps up with this sort of stuff, it can really make your head spin. I mean, geeeeezzzz I haven't even figured out what I'll be buying and wearing for Spring yet!!

Euro Fashions
Since we are on the subject of "La Vie En Rose", I thought I'd share my current obsession for all that is Euro Fashions. The gals on the streets in Paris (photos above) know how to put it together. Nothing to obvious, always unique, never wearing the same boring Forever 21 clothes everyone in the U.S. wears. (don't get me wrong, I love me some F21) They can always make the most casual clothes look chic. It's unfortunate for us the cost of French Vogue, and the insane costs for a year's subscription to Elle UK. Thank god for the world wide web!

SAG Red Carpet
Uggghh - I know we're late on this one, but we are on holiday and managed to miss the whole Red Carpet show for the SAG awards. Total bummer. Anyways, we did just watch "La Vie En Rose" and Marion Cotillard was amazing in it. It looks like she did a nice job on the red carpet as well. Counting down to the Oscars.

See by Chloe
Exciting news! You can now get See by Chloe in Shopbop.com's designer boutique. This woven motor jacket is made of linen and cotton, but shockingly looks like it's leather. It has a great off center two way zipper front. I was thinking how great it would be to put this baby on and hop on the back of my man's chopper. I'd look fierce! And I'd also probably die since I'd be wearing absolutely no protection. (hey... sometimes you gotta make sacrifices for fashion ;))

Pretty much great on any skin tone, you can wear this alone for a great glossy shimmery shine or over your favorite color lipstick. This is well worth a trip in the rain to your local Bloomies for!!! Better yet, stay home and order on the Benefits website. $20.00

Mahogany
All these rainy days have left me completely unmotivated! Although I'm not complaining. It's a day of blankets and movies, so I thought I'd share with ya'll one of my all time favorite fashion films. If you've never seen the 1975 film Mahogany with Diana Ross..... well, your missing out!
Diana plays Tracy, a fashion designer turned model turned fashion designer. Tracy leaves her go nowhere neighborhood of Chicago to live a glamorous life in Rome as a fashion model. Of course things don't work out well for Tracy, plus there's this dude Brian who she realizes when it's almost too late, that he's the love of her life. I won't ruin it for you, (actually I think I just did) but just know Diana was a hot skinny babe back in the 70's. I watch the movie for the clothes alone!

Nine West
Nine West has really come a long way. The store which is usually hit or miss, has become increasingly hip over the last couple years. It's also pretty easy on the wallet. You can get all of Springs must have colors in shoes and handbags for under $100.00!! I actually own the pair of shoes pictured here, for being so high, they are so comfy!

Project Runway - Episode 9
Ding dong the witch is dead! There were so many surprising moments on last nights PR we aren't sure where to begin! First, so long Victorya, probably one of the most un-likeable non-personality personalities on the show ever. If I had to watch her roll her eyes one more time.... uugggghhhh! Also, Ricky worked for Cavalli and Vera Wang? Who da thunk? Not only did Ricky finally win a challenge, but him and Sweet P. were in the top two! I would of bet my Gucci bag on those two being on the bottom! I mean Sweet P. seems like a lovely person, but she just has no taste. Anyways, I'm calling final 3 right now! Christian, Rami, Jillian. Everyone else is just fluff!

Nothing says crazy like a little couture
As you may well know, the Spring Couture shows are taking place this week in Paris. So far Galliano's show for Christian Dior has been the most exciting. Bright colors, lots of satin, flowers and sparkle! Not to mention the interesting lamp shade/hair heat lamp hats. I have a personal affection for the looks above. They remind me of the insane killer mushrooms growing like wild-fire in my backyard right now. You can see more photos from all the Couture shows on Style.com.

Safari Jewels
If you want to get that "Out of Africa" look this spring but just don't feel the whole look is for you, go with some tribal fun accessories instead! I found these at J. Crew. I like this 18k gold-plated elephant charm bracelet for $125.00. Also this cabachon- wrapped enamel bangle for $68.00. The bangle comes in a variety of great colors, so buy a few and pile them on!

Urban Jungle
Think Safari...... in LA ! Fashion insiders everywhere are talking about an "Out of Africa" look as a new spring trend. This means safari jackets, cargo dresses, and rafia sandals.Lets not go over board with this look though! I dont wanna see any of you ladies in head to toe camo ensembles. Remember we are on the streets of California not the plains of the Serengeti.

From Dud to Stud
As the Sundance channel prepares to premiere the much talked about Marc Jacobs/Louis Vuitton documentary next month we here at the fashion mafia wanted to wanted to put in our two cents on the designer. We have worshiped his clothing and accessories for years, but Marc Jacobs has never been as easy on the eyes as his iconic fashions. Mr. Jacobs has recently ditched his trademark converse, shaggy hair and large retro glasses for a new and improved look. Watch out Tom Ford.
10th Anniversary - Fendi Baguette
Fendi has brought back it's iconic baguette bag (made famous during the 90's by one Carrie Bradshaw) for a limited time. This Spring you can pick one up in a slew of bright pantone colors as well as in different forms, like this GORG clutch! (photo above) I always wanted one of these....... (sigh)

I wear my sunglasses.... inside.
I spent a lovely afternoon with some gal pals on a very popular shopping and eats street here in L.A. And I just have to get this off my chest; I just don't understand the whole... wearing your sunglasses indoors. I mean....... what? Why? Mind you, this was a dude I am referring to, who for some reason while having a lovely lunch, with a lovely young lady, did not take his sunglasses off once!!! And its freakin cloudy and rainy outside!!! Uggghhh Hollywoodies! Take the sunnies off dude! The only person who gets a pass on this is Jack Nicholson sitting sideline at a Laker game. (cause he is still one bad ass dude)
By the way... I would kill someone for these Tom Ford glasses. (photo above) Available at Shopbop.com.

Chloe Sevigny - Elle UK
Word on the street is that Chloe Sevigny, actress and fashion "it" girl, will be the new style advisor for Elle UK. I can't wait to see what will come! Chloe has an ability and an eye to really put things together. On any given day she can look like a completely different person, obviously changing her style with her mood. This is exciting! Not to mention it gives us one more reason to spend the money for Elle UK. It is sooooooooooo much better then the US Elle. Check it out!

Inner wear as outer wear
I'm thrilled that designers have decided to bring back inner-wear as outer-wear for Spring. My fave is the silk and lace nighties look Blumarine showed on the runway! (photo above) I'd probably pair something like this with some white pants underneath. Us real gals have to be careful when donning this kind of look around town. If not done correctly you could end up looking like a hooker on Hollywood & Vine. (but then again maybe that's the look your going for) Love Blumarine!

Jovovich-Hawk for Target
The countdown is on for Jovovich-Hawks' line for Target! Just over a month to go!!! Yipeeeee
“Our Target line will have all our classic pieces: smock dresses, tunics, minis, all vintage-inspired, great prints,” Jovovich said. “We took the things that sold the best for us but we’re doing it on a bigger scale. To be able to do it with a big company that can afford to do it for a good price so that real girls can afford it. That’s the reason we were interested.” via LA Times

The Gladiator Sandal
Oh no! It's attack of the gladiator sandal! Don't get us wrong we are fans of high fashion but, I thought this was a trend that was over and done with. It seems the fashion gods our deeming the gladiator sandal as a Spring must have. I think they are a fashion no-no. They are not flattering, fashionable, functionable nor wearable! I think this is a trend that should be left in Roman times!

Vintage Find!
Sorry for the bad photography but I had to share my current prized possession! While browsing one of my local vintage stores I came across this amazing snake bracelet that's in perfect condition. I know there are current designers doing these today... but I just love the color and quality of this one. Today's jewelry is made so crappy in comparison. Love!
Gucci Hysteria Handbags
I haven't been loving Gucci's line of bags in years, but while looking at the new Spring bags for pre-order at NeimanMarcus.com I came across this beauty! Gucci's new Hysteria Handbags! They come in different sizes and colors, including metallics. I so want this bag! (hmmm do u see a strange purple & pink trend going on here at fashion mafia?)

With peep toes and signature red soles it's the perfect way to add a pop of color to your drab winter wardrobe! Bright colors are all the rage for Spring which is a good thing since these babies cost $960 dollars! We likey!!

Sex and the City
We here at The Fashion Mafia are peeing our pants looking at pictures from the new Sex and the City movie! Stylist Patricia Field is doing it again with amazing prints and colors. These stills from the film have inspired moi' to get rid of all the black, brown, and white that is my boring wardrobe. I have made a firm decision to jump into Spring in florals and brights! It's the perfect season for all of us to take some risks - I mean, that is what Carrie would do!

High Waisted Jeans
I know... I know.... Fashion "experts" everywhere are saying low rise jeans should go away and aren't attractive on anyone! Well I beg to differ. If designers are no longer making low rise jeans, is this what we will have walking around town? I don't know about most people but my ass would look like the size of a house in these things. Unless you are a tiny 90lb waif this is just a bad idea! Long live the low rise jean!!!
